2007 enVision Youth Solutions Grant
United Way of Manistee County and the
Manistee County Community Foundation team up to
enVision Youth Solutions Grants
totaling $29,778 to nine agencies.

Thank you for another successful
campaign! For the second year in a row, United Way of Manistee
County has exceeded its campaign goal, this year raising over
$200,000 for health and human services in our community.
Corey Van Fleet succeeds Sharron
Lemmer as Executive Director of United Way of Manistee County.
United Way of
Manistee County announced the appointment of Corey Van Fleet to the
position of Executive Director, succeeding Sharron Lemmer. Van Fleet
comes to United Way of Manistee County following a career in
education, agency management and business, having worked with United
Way of Oakland, Macomb, Monroe, St. Clair and Wayne Counties in
Michigan. He has held volunteer leadership positions while working
with the American Red Cross, Baldwin Family Health Center, Blue
Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Michigan Technology Council, and the
University Cultural Center in Detroit. He served as president of the
College Swimming Coaches of America and was a member of the National
and Michigan Scholastic Swimming Coaches Association, the United
States Olympic Swimming Committee, the National YMCA Aquatic
Council, and Rotary International.
Mary Hurley, board
president, speaking for her fellow board members said, “The board of
directors believes that Corey posses the personality, work ethic,
organizational and people skills that will continue to strengthen
United Way and the community we serve.”
Lemmer, who has
provided outstanding leadership to United Way for the past five
years, announced that the 2006 fundraising goal of $200,000 has been
met. “Sharron’s successes have been many, and she leaves United Way
of Manistee County well positioned to tackle the future with
enthusiasm,” said Van Fleet. He said, “our job will be to continue
her outstanding example.” Lemmer will continue her commitment to
developing 2-1-1 for the Manistee County community.
United Way of
Manistee County distributed approximately $140,000 last year to its
11 partner agencies: Alternatives for Area Youth, American Red Corss
– West Shore Chapter, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwestern
Michigan, CHOICES of Manistee County, Girl Scouts of Crooked Tree,
Manistee County Association for Retarded Citizens, Manistee County
4-H, Manistee Recreation Association, The Salvation Army, Scenic
Trails Boy Scout Council and Staircase Youth Services.
United Way
also collaborates with the Manistee County Community Foundation in
defining community needs and funds programs through the enVision
Solutions grants.
