2007/2008 Campaign

what matters.

Help us raise $205,000 for vital health and human services in Manistee County.

United Way of Manistee County announces the kick-off of its annual fundraising campaign, which will be chaired by Manistee Fire Department Chief Sid Scrimger. The organization hopes to raise $205,000 this year for vital health and human services in Manistee County.

Two events, sponsored by Blarney Castle, Lake Osceola State Bank, National City Bank, Northwestern Bank and West Shore Bank, will jumpstart the campaign.

A community-wide kick-off breakfast will be held at Manistee Golf and Country Club on Friday, September 7, beginning at 7:30 a.m. Learn how United Way’s initiatives and its network of vital health and human service agencies make lasting change in our community. Make breakfast reservations by contacting 723-2331 or jquinn@uwmanistee.org.

The campaign heats up the following day, Saturday, September 8, with the seventh annual Oldies 101.5 Chili Cook-Off. The county’s finest chili chefs, both professional and amateur, will serve up their specialties from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at the historic First Street Firehouse in Manistee. Last year’s crowd pleasers, All Strung Out and Gettin’ Hammered with Monica and Monte Klein, will once again provide the entertainment for the event. Unlimited tasting is available for $6 at the door. Prizes will be awarded in professional and amateur divisions for best tasting chili, hottest chili and best presentation. If you’d like to enter your chili, contact 723-2331 or jquinn@uwmanistee.org to register for the competition.
